Our Process

Our Landscape Design-Build Process

From the first conversation through design, budget planning and construction, Creative Concepts brings every part of the project together around one clear plan.

We work to understand how you want to use your property, what you want to invest and what matters most, then develop a landscape that brings those priorities together.

Planning First

Great Landscapes Are Planned Before They Are Built

Good planning connects the property, the priorities and the budget before construction begins.

A successful landscape project starts with understanding how you want to use the property and what matters most to you. Layout, access, grading, drainage, materials, structures and planting all affect how the finished landscape will work.

Creative Concepts uses the planning and design process to make those decisions early, so the project develops as one coordinated landscape rather than a collection of separate features.

Our Process

From First Conversation to Finished Landscape

A clear process helps turn ideas into a landscape that fits the property, the priorities and the budget. Creative Concepts works closely with each client from the early planning stage through construction, and can also work from plans that are already prepared.

01

Discovery & Property Review

We start with the property, how you want to use it, the scope of the project and the priorities that will shape the work.

02

Vision, Priorities & Budget

We talk through your goals, your must-haves and your ideal budget so the design direction matches what you want to build.

03

Concept & Layout

We develop the overall layout and relationship between patios, pools, planting, structures, circulation and usable outdoor space.

04

Design Development

The concept is refined through decisions about materials, dimensions, features, planting, lighting and the details that bring the project together.

05

Scope, Pricing & Final Plan

As the design becomes clear, the scope and pricing become clear too. Creative Concepts works with the client to shape a plan that aligns with the target budget.

06

Pre-Construction & Build

Once the plan is approved, the project moves into scheduling, preparation and construction, with the same team carrying the work through to completion.

From Plan to Property

From Plan to Reality

A clear plan defines the layout, scale, materials and major features before construction begins. Renderings then help connect the design to the finished landscape, giving everyone a clear picture of what is being built.

Budget & Design

Designing With Your Investment in Mind

Creative Concepts works with clients early in the process to understand what they want to accomplish, what matters most and the level of investment they are comfortable with.

That investment range helps guide the design from the beginning. As the project develops, decisions around layout, materials, features and scope can be made with the budget in mind, helping create the strongest possible landscape within the client’s priorities.

Common Questions

Questions About the Design-Build Process

Do I need a finished landscape design before contacting Creative Concepts?

No. Many clients come to Creative Concepts with an idea, a list of priorities or simply a property they want to improve. The early planning process helps define the project, the investment range and the design direction before construction begins.

What if I already have a landscape design?

Creative Concepts can work from existing landscape plans, architectural drawings or other sufficiently developed design documents. We can review the plans from a construction perspective and work with you to bring the design to life.

Can Creative Concepts work with my existing designer or architect?

Yes. If you are already working with a landscape designer, architect or another design professional, Creative Concepts can participate as the landscape construction partner and coordinate our work with the plans and project team.

When should we discuss budget?

Budget should be discussed early. Understanding the level of investment you are comfortable with helps guide decisions about layout, materials, features and priorities while the project is still being designed.

When will I know what the project will cost?

The investment range helps guide the project from the beginning. As the design and construction scope become more clearly defined, Creative Concepts can develop more detailed pricing based on what is actually planned to be built.

What happens after the design is approved?

Once the design and scope are agreed on, the project can move into final pricing, scheduling, pre-construction planning and construction.
